Speakers:
John Calvert- USPTO, he has been a patent examiner, supervisory patent examiner and served as Director of the Office of Independent Inventor Programs for the Undersecretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and the Director of the USPTO.
Jeff Woller- an associate in the Portland office of Stoel Rives LLP. He is a member of the Technology and Intellectual Property group and focuses his practice on client counseling for patent portfolio development, patent infringement and validity issues, and preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the United States and internationally.
Robin Klein- He has taught classes and implemented Lean to over 50 manufacturers in Oregon and Washington. He has worked in a variety of manufacturing industries including: Defense, Fabrication, Wire & cable assembly, Laser, Industrial, Recreational, and Plastics. Recognized for leadership as Program Manager for producing Patriot warheads during “Desert Storm”.
Julie Pickens- After 12 years in the beer and wine business, she moved into the franchise business, opening and developing for two franchise chains – Cold Stone Creamery and Wetzel’s Pretzel’s. Julie has worked with several non-profit organizations including Boys and Girls Aid Society where she was president of the Cherry Branch in Salem, Oregon.
Mindee Doney- West Coast Regional Marketing Manager for Procter & Gamble for 5 years. In her position, she was the liaison between consumers, retailers and manufacturers. She has planned and executed hundreds of marketing promotions. She has experience in the restaurant industry serving 3 years as a Community Marketing Manager for McDonald’s Corporation. Currently she owns and operates, BRiTE iDEA Events, Inc, an event marketing and PR firm based in Portland, Oregon.
Angela Jackson- director at Emergent. She coaches and helps define the capital strategy for entrepreneurs in the consumer, sustainability and technology arenas. She has a background in marketing/sales, strategic partnerships, fundraising and leadership. She has launched several businesses and led numerous public and private ventures. She is also a consultant to staff at MIPO.
Charles Letherwood- award-winning Industrial Designer, is a partner in a design consultancy, Arete Design, that provides services in product design, development, and prototyping, conduct classes and seminars in the design process, teaching individuals what to expect as they move from an idea on a napkin to a product on a store shelf, and is working with the Art Institute of Portland to develop a program pairing
