The Napkin Project
The 'idea' stage is the entry point for inventors to receive services at MIPO. As an avid inventor, it can be both exciting and frustrating to decipher which idea will have the greatest success for entry into a market. Often inventors will have several ideas in the infancy stage or 'napkin stage' and need assistance in moving through the process.

At MIPO we work closely with you to help support your idea. This includes reviewing the idea in various forms through our comprehensive assessment tools. In addition, our role is to review the viability of the idea through the industry and prototype stage.

MIPO has developed a signature program to allow inventors to come together and support each other in bringing an idea to market. This educational based program is held twice a year and is geared towards innovative inventions that the community will benefit from.

The program runs 6-8 weeks and covers the following critical information:

1. Determining a viable idea
2. Developing CAD Drawings
3. Reviewing the feasibility of the invention
4. Reviewing prior art
5. Discussing potential for intellectual property protection
6. Reviewing traditional and non-traditional resources
7. Designing a first stage prototype
